A. Human population has always had a negative effect on the environment. Even the Native American arrival coincides with massive extinctions. As humans become more populous, there is more need for food and other goods. This translates into more land and water exploitation. In a capitalist society, those with money fight to prevent laws that will offer any protections to the environment. One only has to look at the massive Deforestation and destruction of rain forests in Bolivia (sponsored by Shell Oil Co) to see this. So I would environmental destruction is the natural result of human population growth and the flames are fanned by capitalism, but not so much imperialism.
