NounSingular wi-fi Plural uncountable wi-fi (uncountable)
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Wi-Fi (pronounced /ˈwaɪfaɪ/) is a trademark of the Wi-Fi Alliance that may be used with certified products that belong to a class of wireless local area network (WLAN) devices based on the IEEE 802.11 standards. Because of the close relationship with its underlying standard, the term Wi-Fi is often used as a synonym for IEEE 802.11 technology. The Wi-Fi Alliance is a global, non-profit association of companies that promotes WLAN technology and certifies products if they conform to certain standards of interoperability. Not every IEEE 802.11-compliant device is submitted for certification to the Wi-Fi Alliance, sometimes because of costs associated with the certification process and the lack of the Wi-Fi logo does not imply a device is incompatible with Wi-Fi devices. Today, an IEEE 802.11 device is installed in many personal computers, video game consoles, smartphones, printers, and other peripherals, and virtually all laptop or palm-sized computers. I don't have the Wi-Fi usb adapter thing yet but I might get it. I haven't found a website that explains how it works and I tried asking the guys working at EBGames but they have no idea what they're talking about. The only game I would play on Wi-fi would be Pokemon Diamond. I know how to go wireless with my friend's DS and diamond at my house but I don't understand Wi-Fi and how it works and what your computer needs to have to be compatible with the wi-fi adapter. I heard you needed like a wireless internet connection. I'm pretty sure I have broadband internet. I have windows xp and a usb adpater on the tower. I also heard that their is a distance thing that you can only be so many feet away from the wi-fi adapter or the connection won't [cont.] Asked by Ray B - Sun Aug 12 17:01:26 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. if you have a d link or any type of wireless internet routers then just turn the game on with the pokemon in then just fix your wireless connection on the main menu of diamond/pearl. Q. My asus netbook suddenly stopped connecting to the internet. The wi/fi is turned on, and everything about it works besides the fact that it can't enable. (I know it's nothing to do with the modem because other computers in my house are fine) So how can I tell if my wi/fi is broken? And if it is, is that something that would be covered in my year long warranty with asus? Asked by bubbles21 - Sat Sep 5 20:53:00 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Hello, Yes this would be covered as its part of the package. Scan for networks broadcasting signals, if it does not pick anything up as usual, something is wrong. Contact Asus and see if they can offer you support or a fix. -S.Majer -HostMySite.com Technical Support Representative Answered by Sergiusz - Sat Sep 5 21:56:05 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "wi-fi"
